ELMYRA

Have you considered building ELMYRA but not sure what’s involved? Scroll down for more information!

Neutral Labs ElMyra

ELMYRA is a DIY interactive drone synthesizer, inspired by the LYRA 8. It is a platform for sonic exploration, with 3 oscillators controlled via the front panel touch pads. The NEW v1.4 also includes an external input so you can process other sound sources through the ELMYRA filter and distortion circuits.

Visit the Neutral Labs ELMYRA Page for more details.

Whats in the BOX?

The kits are complete will all the necessary components to construct a complete 3 oscillator drone synth. Included in the box: PCB, microcontroller, front panel potentiometers, knobs, switches, touch, plates, front panel and case.

The kit is available with either a black or white front panel.

DIY BUILD

All of the components are soldered through holes to the circuit boards. This type of soldering is suitable for beginners and the finished result is rewarding for beginners and more experienced builders alike. You can construct this kit in one session.

External Audio Input

The NEW v1.4 now also includes an audio input for processing external devices through the ELMYRA filter and distortion circuits. This new feature opens up a range of further possibilities for sonic exploration with ELMYRA!

Chromatic Mode

Did you know ELMYRA can be tuned chromatically? Flip the Shape switch of Oscillator 1 twice quickly to enable the chromatic tuning for all 3 oscillators.

Check it out in this video!

Have v1.3 but would really like the the new Audio input feature?

No problem. It is possible to modify your ELMYRA v1.3 for external audio input.
You will need:

  • 1 x 10KOhm resistor

  • 1 x audio input jack

  • some hook up wires

  • soldering iron

FINISHed the BUILD and its still not working or you hear some strange sounds?

Very occasionally, I've had an ELMYRA with the firmware not functioning 100% after the DIY kit is assembled.

Sometimes this can be identified by unusual sounds being triggered from the touch pads or the ELMYRA can be completely unresponsive. If you are building this at home, it can be difficult to test without a known, working microcontroller, but if you suspect you have an issue, watch this walkthrough to re-flash your microcontroller.
